Sax in the City. Last Thursday was fun. Thats me playing with Tom McGuire & The Brassholes on streets of Edinburgh (thanx to Andy McMillan who couldnt make it- I was filling the gap, great guy, great band). I was discovering their set as we were playing it, tons of well known stf though. Old funk, tunes everyone have heard, plus recent stf like this one. Skilled Brass section, young Jazz students, loads of improvising, so much fun. Response was awesome, these guys are awesome! That good that people blocked off the street. Police arrived saying we have to move people a bit so other folk can pass- very reasonable request by the way. On the other hand not cool coz we had to let everyone who was having fun go. And yas! Police :) It didnt work for long. Second time they arrived situation looked only worse (from their perspective lol), more people, human traffic so we had to finish. Someone took a video (thanx!) before they arrived. Ive played different gigs, different styles, with different people in different settings but this one was one of its kind. Long Live The Brassholes!
