“Say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you’” (Lk 10:9) When a baby is born, the parents are ecstatic. Everyone rejoices; relatives and friends scattered across the globe are informed about the arrival of the new-born. The joy was excitement is so intense that we want to tell everyone. Are we similarly electrified by7 the good news? Today’s Gospel offers us an opportunity not only to rediscover the joy but let that excitement send us forth as messengers of God. God’s love is so pure and overwhelming that we cannot keep it to ourselves. He redeemed us by sending his Son to die on the cross for each one of us. Isn’t this more significant than all the other exhilarating moments of life? Jesus sends each one of us to spread the Gospel to those who are willing to listen. He says, “Go on your way” (Lk 10:3). He asks us to refrain from idle gossip and staying too long with those who are disinterested. And he has great gifts and surprises in store if we heed his call willingly. Are we bearers of God’s word to those who have not yet been acquainted with Jesus? Are we truly convinced that Jesus will take care of all our needs, provided we take the initiative of living our comfort zone to proclaim his word? FRUIT: Let us ask Jesus to instill in us fervent desire to spread his message of grace and mercy.
