Sayang buat apa. Last words can be so poignant. It can be - TopicsExpress

Sayang buat apa. Last words can be so poignant. It can be simple words but can echo for eternity to some. This Raya, while many of us will be celebrating the occasion, the wife of Kpl Abdul Rajah Jamuan will be remembering those words. Will she silently repeat it to herself and answer him? Will she hold her son tight when he turns one year old on July 26, and tell him that his father is watching over them. Like how he and his fellow defenders watched over us while we were sleeping safely in our beds. And gave us his life in return for our continued safety. I didnt want to write about this yesterday because I was quite angry at some comments I saw, disparaging the security forces and making needless remarks...such as security lapse, Malaysia not safe anymore etc etc. I think many of those who made those remarks do not know how this works, hence in their ignorance they may not realise that this is all part and parcel of the sacrifice and duty of those who protect us. But this isnt about those people. So I wont waste anymore time about them. This is for those men and women who go to work each day...as a duty and a service, putting their lives at risk each minute they are at work. When I think back on what we complain about at work, a demanding boss, bad clients, traffic jams, etc etc.. and compare it to what these guys put at risk each day and night...then I feel ashamed. Their job scope includes sacrificing their lives. How much more can we ask from our servicemen? And on those days that they do, is it too much to ask each and every one of us to reflect on their sacrifice, to be thankful to their families, wives, husbands and children who will pay the price alongside them. There is one good man down now and another missing. They arent the first and they wont be the last. I dont know about you but I will be praying for the safe return for all. So that they can return home this Raya and be with the ones they love. And I will send a prayer to the boy that he will one day realise the sacrifice his father made for us all. And know that he can stand tall for this. It is the least that I can do.
