Scam alert - I just got one of these calls. Someone saying they are from Microsoft or Windows and that they are support personnel calling because your computer notified them of a serious problem. The foreign accent with very broken English of the technician should give this away, but even if its not a foreign accent or excellent English, no software company is calling you out of the blue to resolve a technical issue that your computer notified them about. Heck, most peoples copies of Windows arent fully registered with notifications turned on, even. These scammers were doing this 2 years or so ago and one of my writers friend IIRC had a family member who learned a painful lesson. Hang up or have fun wasting their time, but this is a lie/scam, so dont accept any email from them, dont give them any passwords, dont give them any personal information (but, hey, if you want to say your name is Minnie Mouse or Annie Orphan or Mary Poppins...again, have fun wasting their time). Crap -- but it is seriously time we take our phones and email back and stop these kinds of MF A%%HOLES from stealing from people.
