Scarecrow Registration Date Deadline The deadline to register all scarecrows for this year’s Cambria Scarecrow Festival is Tuesday, Sept. 10. Plus, according to the festival organizers, if you are entering a new scarecrow this year, it will be eligible for judging, only if it is registered by the deadline date. Only new scarecrows will be judged, with winners announced during the Scarecrow Festival Kickoff Party, Thursday, Oct. 3, at Cambria Nursery and Florist. Co-chair for the festival, Sue Robinson explained, “With the introduction of QR codes for each registered scarecrow this year, the application is taking a little longer this year.” QR codes mean “Quick Response” codes that smart phone users can scan and go directly to the website with information about each scarecrow, like who made the scarecrow, etc. Organizers expect about 400 registered scarecrows this year. Scarecrows must be in place by Sunday, Sept. 22 in order to be photographed the following day. Judging by local media personalities and representatives of the tourism industry will take place Tuesday, Oct. 1. The kickoff party begins the following Thursday at 5:30.
