Scars My scars do not define me Search much deeper, you shall see There’s so much more behind them than you might have thought there’d be Mocked in early childhood Each school day filled with dread How many days I’d come home in tears Hide my face in Mama’s bed I wish that I had known then What it is that I know now I’d have come out of my little shell Made them all see ME somehow I’d have stood up on a desk And shouted out real loud My Scars Do NOT Define Me! Get to know me, you’ll find out A day finally came when I found my niche My place upon this Earth My scars did not define me I found out my own true worth Then came a time of revelation Bomb was dropped; my mind was blown My scars somewhat define me… Something I should have always known Part of me since the age of two They have a story to tell Of a time that Satan tried to win Tried to take me, but he failed Struck down by an incurable disease I shouldn’t even be here to say My scars are my own testimony A testimony I can share today.
