Scene Shop Administrator Shakespeare Theatre Company Category: Technical Description: The Shakespeare Theatre Company, a Tony Award winning multi-venue LORT B+ theatre in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Scene Shop Administrator. The Scene Shop Administrator assists the Technical Director, Assistant Technical Directors and Charge Scenic Artist by organizing the research, purchasing, and tracking of all Scenery and Paint needs involved in the production process. This position also tracks carpentry and paint timesheets, as well as hiring overhires and organizing calls as needed. The STC carpentry and paint shops are very team oriented: all personnel, regardless of position, may be called upon to help with a variety of hands-on tasks. Knowledge of standard business practices and Microsoft office software, excellent organizational skills, familiarity with the processes involved in theatrical set construction, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Theatre (or equivalent professional experience) and at least one year of professional industry experience required. Occasional evening and weekend hours required, regular hours are Monday through Thursday 7am to 6pm. Valid driver’s license, the ability to drive a 24’ box truck, and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. required. Year round position with excellent benefits.
