School Children falling sick in flood hit buildings THE schools in Srinagar have resumed working normally ignoring the conditions around the campuses. We are very much worried about the health of our children. My ward is pursuing her studies at Oak Hill Institute of Education Syedabad Soiteng Srinagar, one of the worst flood hit areas. Since last Saturday when she joined the school back she is not feeling well. She is suffering from throat infection and fever. I am deeply concerned about my daughter’s health. The conditions around the school are so bad that even the phenyl could not remove the stench. The school authorities have cleaned up the school basement many times but the dampness continues to rise with mushrooming of visible fungus. The school ground is still unclean and the flood water is still around. There is so much of bad smell in the school that the school authorities had to use Agarbattis to get rid of the fetid. We are requesting the school authorities that we will pay your fee without any question. But please don’t risk the lives of our children just for the sake of school fee. We also request the Director School Education Kashmir to look into the matter so as to save our children from being forced to death for a rosy picture of devastated Srinagar. By Insha Queshi. iqureshi684@gmail School Reacts: We have not reopened school to grab fee. If the concerned authorities ask us to keep the school closed, we have no issues with that as well. #Muneer
