School Mum Debbie has asked: My 4 year old twirls and twists her hair on the one side, whilst simultaneously sucking her fingers of the other hand as a comfort thing. Shes been doing this since I can remember.. The problem I have is she creates a knot, then pulls the knot out creating a bald patch!! Her hair is also in poor condition as a result of being broken off...Im so concerned as this cant be normal. We have tried talking calmly to her we have tried tying her hair up, mittens, reward charts..etc. she still manages to get her finger stuck in her hair..Nothing has worked so far. We have made an appointment this week to get her hair cut very short as a last resort to try help her curb this habit. Has anyone else experienced this and what did they find helped? Thanks
