School boys cycling championships By Connor rose, What an awesome event today at the round three of the Victorian school boys cycling championships. The event was at lysterfield mountain bike park and hosted by the Dirt Riders mountain bike club. My event didnt start till two which meant I had time to sleep in and chill out before my race .I got up their early enough to have a walk around and watch the under 15s race. I then started my warm up with Adam Blazevic who was also racing with me in the under 17s we rolled around for about 30 minutes before we started our race. It was a fast start off the line with the under 19 racers on the front row the under 17 s just behind and the girls from both categories behind us . I had a good start sitting in second in my category and about sixth overall .As we headed into the single track Adam and I were riding side by side on a really narrow track with neither of us wanting to let the other in front ,eventually of course we clipped bars and I nearly went down , I didnt loose any places but Adam got in front and rode really strong managing to get a bit of a gap on me.I put my head down and was really happy with my pace, but despite my best efforts I couldnt close the gap and we came across the finish line with him in first and me in second just a short time behind. Adam raced great today and it was really fun racing hard against a good friend . It was a great race today made even better by being able to catch up with other kids in our category from all over Victoria. It was also good to see my old team mate Joe leonard at the race .I rode with him for the first few laps and it was great to see him finish in 2nd in under 19s .
