Schools are being forced to ditch the “class teddy” who spends a different weekend with each pupil because of competitive parents. Primary school children take it in turns to look after the bears, writing a diary about the activities they share with the toy and taking photographs. But parents are becoming overly competitive and attempting to outdo each others with exciting activities, high-profile events and exotic holidays, according to research by the Times Educational Supplement.
