Science Fakt: Planets, stars, and other celestial bodies emit - TopicsExpress

Science Fakt: Planets, stars, and other celestial bodies emit noise in the form of radio waves, which can be picked up and converted into sound by radios. This is useful as sound does not travel in space, which fails to explain the whispers, heard only on occasion, but far too often by those in low earth orbit, just outside the walls of their capsules. They try to play it off as just the odd creak of the metal expanding or contracting, the rare groan of metal as the inertia of their constructs lags behind in movement an impossible fraction of an inch. But they know. They know where the whispers come from, what the source is and the messages it tells them. But they dare not repeat what they hear to others, lest they bring it even closer to mans already frail domain. For the astronauts know. An unspoken agreement as old as the space age. They see it just outside the windows, sometimes, numb to yet still quietly terrified by its implied enormity and speed as it darts out of sight, not by any fear of discovery, but with a quiet, almost professional acknowledgement that to do so would be like revealing the punchline before the joke has been told. They stay in their spacecraft when possible, and close to it when it is not. They fear, more then anything else, not an undignified death in space, but to drift into the clutches of that dark, terrible thing. And while they go about their days cheerful, brave heroes of science, they know the truth. That it knows of us. That someday, the lights that protect us from it will go out. And it will have its way.
