Science & Inventions: One of the most important mathematic figures, “Zero” on which based are the binary calculations of a computer too, was first invented and documented in India. Value of pi was first calculated in India around 800 B.C. By Buddhayana. Many of the mathematic theorems used these days were also given by him. Pythagorean theorem is one of them. Place Value System and Decimal System was invented in India in around 100 B.C. Algebra, Calculus & Trigonometry studies originated in India in around 100 B.C. Quadratic equations were invented by Sridharacharya in 11th century. In 5th century, hundreds of years before any astronomers, Bhaskaracharya was the first to calculate the actual time taken by earth to orbit the sun i.e, 365.258756484 days. The art of navigation came to existence around 6000 years ago by the inhabitants of Sindh region. The word navigation is derived from Sanskrit word “Navgath”. The word navy is also derived from Sanskrit word “Nou”. The largest measure of time known as Kalpa was created by Indians. It longs from the time of birth of universe to its annihilation which is around 25 billion years. Other than US & Japan, India is the only country to make a Super Computer in an indigenous manner. India is one of the largest software exporters to world exporting its software services to more than 90 countries. In Bangalore only there are over 1500 software companies. With an amount of $ 47 billion half of the world’s outsourced IT services come from India. Seven of the world’s top 15 technology outsourcing companies are based in India. India is the second largest country with the maximum number of engineers and scientists. India has got one of the oldest engineering colleges of the world i.e, College of Engineering in Guindy, Chennai.
