Scooter Operator Arrested (Bridgeport, CT -- Aug. 19, 2013) – A 30-year-old man faces criminal and motor vehicle charges after he and a friend were observed driving recklessly Friday on scooters. Officers Jeffrey Long and Jeremy Kelly observed two scooters traveling at a high rate of speed on Brooks Street and saw them make two reckless turns in which they traveling into oncoming traffic. One of the operators slowed down but did not stop when the officers activated their lights and siren. However, the other accelerated and police followed him. He continued to drive recklessly before turning into a driveway in the 200 block of Helen Street. The operator, later identified as Omar Ramos, of Helen Street, fled on foot but was captured by Kelly as Ramos attempted to hide. He was held on $2,500 bond on charges including engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, interfering with police, among other motor vehicle counts.
