Scotian Wind offers rare Tour a Turbine Opportunity to residents and visitors in Annapolis County! Participants are afforded the chance for a guided tour of a working wind turbine on Saturday, August 16th, 2014. ANNAPOLIS COUNTY, NS – August 11, 2014 – Scotian Wind presents ‘Tour a Turbine’ event on Saturday August 16th from 11am to 1pm in Annapolis County. Folks are invited to gather at the Visitor Information Centre at the Annapolis Royal Tidal Power Project. They will be treated with snacks, beverages, and a video tour of Scotian Wind’s projects across the province. They can also board a shuttle bus and enjoy a guided tour the working turbine at Parker Mountain. The Parker Mountain turbine was installed and commissioned earlier this year. It was one of three turbines that Scotian Wind installed in the winter of 2014. The turbine is 100 metres tall at the hub with blades of 50 metres. Tours are a rare opportunity to see a working turbine up close and enjoy a guided presentation of the internal workings of the turbine and general operations of the site. Scotian Wind is a Community Economic Development Investment Fund (CEDIF) company that is wholly owned by Nova Scotians under the investment program of the Nova Scotian government. As part of their philosophy of giving back to the community, Scotian Wind has committed to donating 1% of gross revenue annually to the communities in which their turbines are located. The funds will be administered with the assistance of the local Community Liaison Committee for the Parker Mountain turbine. All are welcome to the event in Annapolis County. Admission is free.
