Scotland, like England is a superb country. This means, regardless - TopicsExpress

Scotland, like England is a superb country. This means, regardless of the outcome, we all lose out this Thursday. The Scots will lose out. The English, too. So will the Welsh, the Irish (and by extension - the good people in Catalonia and Spain; in Texas and the USA; in West and East Ukraine, etc.). This is a zero-sum game for all the players. Why? Well, look at how the politicians on all sides have ensured everyone loses by framing the heated, highly emotional and romanticised debate on independence in purely binary black & white terms. Before we sleepwalk our way into a further London-engineered disaster, consider: In the interests of the Scottish people, there may be some aspects of public life in Scotland where it makes good sense for London (which hypocritically and illegitimately tarts itself up as the United Kingdom) to retain control. In the interests of the Scottish people, there may be some aspects of public life in Scotland where it makes good sense for London and Edinburgh / Glasgow to work together on an equitable 50:50 basis. In the interests of the Scottish people, there may be some aspects of public life in Scotland where it makes good sense for Edinburgh / Glasgow to exercise complete (= 100%) control of their affairs. But the politicians on both sides prefer to turn all this into a binary debate. Jesus, its not rocket science: Scotland is not united. It is riven by violent religious divides (e.g. catholic Glasgow Celtic vs. protestant Glasgow Rangers), by regional differences (e.g. highlanders vs. lowlanders); by alarning socio-economic disparities (compare the Outer Hebrides to the metropolitan areas); by age-old clan rivalries. And so, on Thursday, it is highly likely that Scotland will vote by a small majority to preserve the status quo. Out of fear, not reason. This will prove a Pyrrhic victory for the English, who through their menaces, ultimatums and naked threats have sown the seeds of resentment for generations in Scotland - and paradoxically it will help unite Scotland down the line. The CaMorons utter failure to approach the Scottish issue rationally fills me with this dismay at his ignorance: I therefore seriously doubt his judgment on Russia/Ukraine. All this is music to the ears and arses of other morally bankrupt, historically insensitive, bullying and Bullingdon CaMorons who deliberately threaten, intimidate, and tell tendentious lies which do not square with even the simplest historical accounts - or the bitter truth that there has never been a family union of nations. The English, who pledge allegiance to some bizarre family from Hanover, have always had blood on their hands: their murderous conquest of Wales, Ireland and Scotland was only the prelude to their rapacious and exploitative conquest of large parts of the world. The scumbag robber barons of the Middle Ages are still with us - with a vengeance - today. I think its time to recognise that fact and begin to consider an adequate response. To conclude: lets walk another 500 miles with the Proclaimers. And understand, again, that first sentence: Scotland, like England is a superb country. https://youtube/watch?v=tM0sTNtWDiI .
