Screaming parrots?! Ugh! PART 1 Well heres the cold hard truth! Im not going to sugar coat it! They are indeed Flock Animals! What does that mean? They live in flocks!! Guess what else? They are not domesticated animals either!! Uh oh!! So what does that mean? We, the humans, who have removed them from the natural habitat must take responsibility for our actions. How do we do that? Its simple really, you take an active roll as a flock member. You are now viewed by your parrot as its flock! 9 times out of 10 a parrot doesnt scream just to hear itself scream. 1. There is either something wrong. Or 2. Its calling for you. The flock call You are definitely going to be able to tell the difference between these two screams. I want to talk about the scream, I most generally refer to as the the flock call, the one I feel ends up getting most birds rehomed faster than anything else because people cant deal with it. The first thing I suggest is that you teach your parrot to forage! They do this naturally in the wild. It will keep your parrot busy. It teaches them to be independent. My motto is a busy beak is a happy and quiet beak I hide foraging packets throughout my birds cage that they have to find and open everyday. It keeps them busy for quite a while.
