The Apostle‘s Creed 1. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. Genesis 1-2 2. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord. The Annunciation. +1st bead-The time for Incarnation is at hand, Luke 1:26 +2nd bead-Of all women GOD prepared Mary from her conception to be the Mother of the INCARNATE WORD, Isaiah 7:14 (Matt. 1:18-23 fulfillment of Isaiah‘s prophecy) +3rd bead-The Angel Gabriel announces Hail, full of grace! The LORD is with Thee. ,Luke 1:28 +4th bead-Mary wonders at this salutation, Luke 1:29 +5th bead-The angel assures her Fear not...You shall conceive in Your womb, and give birth to a SON. Luke 1:30-31 +6th bead-Mary is troubled for She has made a vow virginity, Luke 1:34 +7th bead-The Angel answers that She will conceive by the HOLY SPIRIT, and Her SON will be called the SON of GOD, Luke 1:35 8th bead-The Incarnation awaits Mary‘s consent, Luke 1:36 9th bead-Mary answers Behold the handmaid of the LORD. Be it done unto Me according to Your Word. Luke 1:38 10th bead-The WORD was made Flesh and dwelt among us, John 1:14 II. The Visitation +1st bead-Mary‘s cousin Elizabeth conceived a son in her old age for nothing is impossible with GOD, Luke 1:37 +2nd bead-Charity prompts Mary to hasten to visit Elizabeth in the hour of her need, Luke 1:39 +3rd bead-The journey to Elizabeth‘s home is about 80 miles requiring 4 or 5 days, Luke 1:39 +4th bead-Though long and ardous, the journey is joyous, for Mary bears with her the INCARNATE WORD, Luke 1:48-49 +5th bead-At Mary‘s salutation, St John the Baptist is sanctified in his mother‘s womb, Luke 1:40-41 +6th bead-Elizabeth exclaims Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Luke 1:42 +7th bead-How have I deserved that the mother of my LORD should come to me? Luke 1:43-44 +8th bead-Blessed is she who believed that the LORD‘s words to her would be fulfilled, Luke 1:45 +9th bead-Mary replies My soul proclaims the greatness of the LORDand my spirit finds joy in GOD my SAVIOUR, Luke 1:46-47 +10th bead-Mary serves her cousin in all humility for 3 months until the birth of St John the Baptist, Luke 1:56 III. The Nativity +1st bead-Joseph and Mary go to Betlehem to comply with the decree of Caesar Augustus, Luke 2:1-3 +2nd bead-The hour for Mary to give birth is near but there is no room in the inn, Luke 2:6-7 +3rd bead-In the stillness of the night the SAVIOUR is born in the cave Mary remaining a Virgin Luke, 2:7 +4th bead-She wraps HIM in swadding clothes and lays HIM in a manger, Luke 2:7 +5th bead-In unspeakable joy Mary gathers to her bosom the Flower of her virginity, Luke 2:7 +6th bead-Jesus enters the world in poverty to teach us the lesson of detachment from earthly things, Luke 2:7 +7th bead-The angel announces to the shepherds Today there is born to you in the town of David a Saviour who is CHRIST the LORD, Luke 2:10-12 +8th bead-The angelic chorus sing Glory to GOD in the highest and peace to HIS people on earth, Luke 2:13-14 9th bead-The shepherds come to the stable to pay homage to the infant Jesus, Luke 2:15-20 10th bead-The magi come to adore the HOLY CHILD and offer HIM gifts, Matt 2:11 IV. The Presentation in the Temple 1st bead-Observing the Law of Moses they take Jesus to the temple to present HIM to the LORD, Luke 2:22 2nd bead-According to the law the firstborn male child of every family should be consecrated to the LORD, Luke 2:23 3rd bead-Mary offers her SON to the FATHER then ransoms HIM back at the pricpaid by the poor, Luke 2:24 4th bead-Jesus is not subject to the Law of Moses, yet to teach obedience submits to it, Luke 2:22-24 5th bead-Mary is not subject to the Law of Moses, yet in humility she submits to it, Luke 2:22-24 6th bead-GOD has revealed to Simeon that he would not see death until he had seen the MESSIAH, Luke 2:25-26 7th bead-Recognizing the CHILD he prays: Now YOU can dismiss YOUR servant in peace YOU have fulfilled YOUR WORD, Luke 2:28-30 8th bead-This CHILD is destined to be the downfall and rise of many in Israel a sign that will be opposed, Luke 2:34 9th bead-And Simeon to Mary reveals: And your own soul a sword shall pierce, Luke 2:35 +10th bead-After they fulfill all the law requires they return to Nazareth, Luke 2:39-40 V. The Finding in the Temple +1st bead-When JESUS is twelve years old. HE goes with HIS parents to Jerusalem for the feast of passover, Luke 2:41-42 +2nd bead-After the feast of the Passover, Joseph and Mary unknowingly set out for Nazareth without JESUS, Luke 2:43 +3rd bead-At the end of the first day‘s journey they discover JESUS is missing, Luke 2:44 +4th bead-HIS parents return immediately looking for HIM, Luke 2:45 +5th bead-This loss causes grief and anxiety beyond our understanding to the hearts of Mary and Joseph, Luke 2:44-45 +6th bead-On the third day they find JESUS in the temple among the doctors who were astonished at HIS wisdom, Luke 2:46-47 +7th bead-Mary SON why have you done this to us ? Your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow. Luke 2:48 +8th bead-JESUS Why did you search for me? Did you not know that I must be busy about my FATHER‘s affairs? Luke 2:49 +9th bead-JESUS goes down with them to Nazareth, and is subject to them, Luke 2:51 +10th bead-Mary keeps all these things in her heart, Luke 2:51 Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee to we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. O God, Whose Only-Begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life: grant, we beseech Thee, that by meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord.
