Scripture Reading—Ps 85:1-13. Lets pray Lord, on this the morning of thy day, we surround thy throne, and unite together in asking thy blessing upon us and ours, even the blessing that maketh rich and addeth no sorrow. We thank thee that thou hast been favourable to our land, and hast continued to us our Sabbaths, our privileges, and our mercies. We thank thee that we have the Bible in our hand, and that we may worship thee under our vine and our fig tree, none making us afraid. For Christ’s sake forgive all the iniquity of thy people; with his righteousness do thou cover all our sins, take away from us, blessed Lord, all thy wrath which we most justly deserve, and turn thyself from the fierceness of thine anger, and have mercy upon us. Turn us, O God, to thyself. Let thine anger cease; revive us again by thy Holy Spirit; revive thy work in the midst of us; revive thy church every where, and cause the dews of thy grace to descend upon its parched places, that it may rejoice and blossom as the rose. Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation. This day, O Lord, may we hear, both in our house and in the sanctuary, what thou the Lord wilt speak. Speak peace to us, O God of peace, and to all thy saints make known thy blessed will, and give us grace not to turn again to folly. May glory dwell in our land; may the mercy and the truth of the gospel meet together over us; may righteousness and peace kiss each other in our streets. Let truth spring out of the earth, and righteousness look down from heaven. Give unto us that which is truly good; do thou bless us, and let the land yield her increase. Let righteousness go before thee, and set us in the way of thy steps. Hear these our humble petitions, O Lord, for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whose name and words we sum up our petitions, saying, Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.
