Scripture for the Day: Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.~Psalm 73:24 All of lifes summed up here in one verse. While Im here on this earth, the psalmist gloats to the Lord, Youll guide me. Youll give me the direction I need for each step of the way. Youll never leave me or forsake me. Youll help me when I stumble, and Youll steer me when I lose my way. Whats more is Youll guide me with Your counsel. This is no mere human, fallible leader. Youre an all-knowing, all-wise escort. Youll never give me wrong advice or send me in a wrong direction. Ill never meet a problem to which You dont know the solution, and Ill never get so off course that You cant guide me back to safety. But thats all just life on earth! Afterward, Youll receive me to glory. After Youve carefully and lovingly directed my way here, Youll usher me into Your glorious presence in heaven. Theres no intermediary state, deaths not a tunnel, its a door. And when you release my hand in this world, Youll receive me into the next. There is no sending; theres only guiding and then receiving, no time apart from You. Death, where is your sting; Gave, where is your victory; Devil, where is your terror? My God will guide me with His counsel, and then receive me to His glory!
