Scuse me while Im proud. My baby just ran a mile with intermitted breaks to do her grounding walking meditation for personal power (her lead, her choice). Because, thats not my kid or anything. Carry on. ***read more if interested*** I posted the book excerpt due to the interest but didnt really walk through the actual steps of what I say to her. So because so many of you were curious these are the actual words I use with her... This is adapted from my personal practice, using the kind of words her kindergarten teacher used when they were doing yoga at the beginning of the day. KID WORDS both feet down (standing still, feet all the way connected, sturdy stance) put those roots in, connect them deep deep down, to everything (words here about feeling strong, or like a tree trunk) now imagine youre a tree walking with your roots still attached, chest up, shoulders down, heart open deep breaths (audible is best) This is a spiritual thing for me. I call it meditation, someone else might call it prayer. If your family would use this time to talk about feeling connected to God or the divine, thats awesome. And of course, this stuff might not resonate at all. Thats fine. Just sharing bc the interest was vocalized quickly. Also, these are things I ask her if shes interested in, and dont push. Thats important, to me. I dont want anything spiritual to be pushed or punitive or a chore. So Im introducing, gaging interest, and now- following HER lead. At least thats what feels right for me. xo E
