Sea Shepherd Operation Grindstop 2014 Synes godt om · 1 t. · Thank-you Operation GrindStop 2014 volunteers! We continue to share your thoughts about this very successful campaign with our supporters. Volunteer Voices: A glimpse into the hearts and minds of our passionate, dedicated Operation GrindStop volunteers. Meet Janine from Australia. Shes one of hundreds of volunteers, from more than 30 nations, who spent part of her summer in the Faroe Islands defending pilot whales from the grind. #OpGrindStop #SeaShepherd #FaroeIslands “Volunteering for Sea Shepherd in the Faroe Islands - defending the senseless killing of whales and dolphins - has been the best thing I have done in my life. Even though I thankfully did not get the chance to jump into the water to keep whales away from the killers, I believe I accomplished what I went there to do: to inspire and plant seeds of inspiration that might eventually grow. I didn’t change the world, but I made a small contribution to the promise of a better reality for everyone. The Faroese whalers are tough nuts to crack though. Anyone able to laugh in someone’s face who is clearly suffering emotional or physical pain seems too far gone in my eyes. Fighting fire with fire has never worked and never will. Besides I do not want to invite hate and anger into my life, what an unhappy life that is. I believe Sea Shepherd has the power to change the way we fight. I have been following Captain Paul Watson and his posts and speeches for years and have never noticed anger or hate. There is nothing but determination to protect what deserves protecting - no matter how scary and serious the threats become. If your way in life is not heading toward love and compassion, then I strongly encourage you to reconsider your purpose in life. In the end, this is all your choice - as it was mine. Just like in the movie The Matrix - it is up to you to choose the red pill or the blue pill. “You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” This couldn’t be more accurate when it comes to our planet. My message to the ones who choose the blue pill - please stay away from inspired people who want to make a difference and keep your discouragement and criticism to yourselves. This summer, Sea Shepherd volunteers were arrested and treated like criminals for protecting what is worth protecting. People stopping other people from doing so in any way are the true criminals in this world! To the people choosing the red pill - not much more needs to be said because you get it. Let’s hold hands and watch our force grow slowly, but steadily and do what we were born to do: defend, conserve, protect - but most of all - love! ~ Janine / Team Klaksvik
