Sean Maria Hanley Says Hi, Im long time supporter and reader of Autism Mothers and the mother myself of a wonderful nine year old named (Josiah) who has severe Autism. We live in Northern Ireland and home educate Josiah using an ABA program here. The Education Board has recently proposed a series of harsh restrictions on home education that include mandatory home inspections and interviews with all home educated children. Our home education group in Northern Ireland is called HEdNI (hedni.org) and I was wondering if you would consider sharing our petition on your facebook page to protect home education here, as many mothers like me with autistic children who would consider home inspections and interviews with our children a gross intrusion. We are also worried that the Board could end our individualized approached to dealing with autism (ABA, Sunrise, etc.) as the Board is proposing to also control what we teach.
