Sean and John and others, thanks for your work to pull this - TopicsExpress

Sean and John and others, thanks for your work to pull this together. I just returned from a week in Scotland with my wife and teenage kids, which included a trip out to the cairn in Otter. This is my second trip to Scotland in 20 years, it seems always either too early or too late to catch the clan gathering. My brief history: Duncan McEwen, born sometime before 1818, left Lochearnhead and moved to Carleton Place, Ontario Canada. Together with his wife, Mary McNaughton, they grew again in Canada. I am the 5th generation since. Its unclear from my fathers notes but Duncan appears to have been one of several McEwens who left Lochearnhead in 1818, I presume related to clearances. I have names of several other families who left at the same time if any are interested. As far as I can tell, I am the only one from Duncans line that has returned to Scotland since that move to Canada, though my Uncle Finley may have travelled north from England while on leave from the army during the 2nd war. My wife Angela and I and our three kids live in Windsor Ontario. We shall follow with interest, and I will work to bring my brothers and sisters up to speed also. God bless you all, Chris McEwen.
