Search called OFF at Grand Lake St. Marys Posted: Monday, January 19 2015 10:04 AM EST By News Staff After finding no evidence of anyone falling through the ice, crews have called off the search. UPDATE @ 11:12 a.m. Montezuma Fire Chief Ron Schulze said crews are actively searching the frozen lake after receiving a report from someone who thought they saw some children go missing on the lake. Schulze said the 911 caller said he or she saw some children playing on the frozen lake and then didn’t see the children moments later. Schulze said it’s unclear how much time elapsed between seeing the children and not seeing them. There are no reports of missing children in the area. Multiple crews have responded, including fire and rescue personnel from Saint Marys, Saint Marys Twp. and Auglaize County. FIRST REPORT Initial reports indicate emergency crews are headed to an ice rescue on Grand Lake St. Marys. Mutual aid was requested from Mercer County around 9:30 a.m. at Edgewater and Cedarhurst drives. Dispatchers were not immediately able to provide details about the call.
