Searching for God with the scientific/empirical method is like searching for galaxies with a microscope. Science is way too narrow and myopic to gauge the larger patterns of being in which a god is to be discovered. Science only analyses phenomena bit by bit to come up with evidence. It is left up to philosophic intuition to synchronize the evidence into a wholistic view and theoretical model. Traditional religions, in contrast, gauge the participant in the wholistic view of the larger patterns of existence. It is like stepping back to see the whole frame rather than sticking the nose on to the surface to see little bits of detail.
