Searching through the closets at Moms house, looking for clothes she will enjoy wearing as the weather gets colder, I found this amazing old Bible. It was stuck in a plastic shopping bag on a shelf full of board games and photo albums. Ive never seen it before. I had no idea we had any concrete remnant of our family history beyond a few blurry photos, and my cousin Jack Leitmeyers Facebook page, Descendants of James and Celeste Judge. It looks like it was purchased in 1879 by my great-grandfather, James Judge. The book is falling apart. At some point an attempt was made to repair the cover with masking tape. (Gasp!) The front and back covers are very thick, with embossed leather and carved wooden insets. Im afraid to delve too deeply into the book until Ive got some archivally correct cotton gloves on, to prevent any further damage.
