Secessionists: a pack of blowhard clowns... but killer clowns, the modern American horror movie. I find it ironic the same GOPers cheering how Abraham Lincoln was their great president are yowling to secede from The Union now that the Socialists have thrown their partys war-profiteering oil-patch Jesus-freaks out of DC. Wasnt Lincoln the one who suspended the Constitution and waged a war that killed half a million Americans to ensure that no state could secede? Are we one nation indivisible, except for Texas, cause theyre more American than the rest of us peckerwoods? Texas? Without the USAs domestic market for car and airplane fuel, and its jet-powered military buying the gas they make from Arab oil, the Texas oil industry would go belly up in days in the face of free competition from Venezuela, Mexico, or the new Republic Of Alaska. Pull out NASA, the US Air Force and Navy, cancel all contracts related to any of those with Texas corporations, including the beef, and put a trade barrier along the north border. Having no love for Texas since the place got ripped off from them two hundred years ago, the Mexicans would likely put up a wall on their side of the border. New Mexico would dam up the Rio Grande and fill the reservoir lakes, and Texas would be back to dry-dirt clod-kicking and taco stands. Are you Texans first, and Americans second? How American is that? Are you Conservatives first, and Americans second? How Conservative is that? Are you Christians first, above all political loyalty? To paraphrase a familiar quote, Our Presidents house hath many mansions. Whether you like us all or not, we are a diverse people, and our interwoven differences in social values, rights, and responsibilities create an evolving tapestry, not a defined pattern to be enforced. Just what part of America do you not acknowledge as part your own house, such that you should bring strife that troubleth the nation?
