Secrecy has been a mainstay of the process in Trumbull County politics for a very long time. For instance, secrecy worked very well for the Trumbull County Health Board for many years, allowing a select few to control the discussion. Now we have Mr. Polivka arguing that secrecy in their ballot process should remain and will allow the Democratic Party to vote for a potential candidate for the vacated county commissioners seat without being intimidated. What about the voters and taxpayers in Trumbull County who have been intimidated, repeatedly, by those whove been the beneficiaries of this secrecy? Could the argument against public voting in this context be because the network this secrecy protects is not those who will be voting on this candidate, but instead, those who have maintained control of the political process for so long in this county?
