Secret #459 [Year 1] With regards to all the posts about private school: you dont necessarily have to be rich to go to private school. What if I told you my parents put a high proportion of their salary into my education, and sacrificed going on holidays, buying nice cars, a better house etc just so I could go to one of these schools with plenty of opportunities. So what if my parents wanted me to go to a private school? Parents sending their kids to state schools sometimes invest that money otherwise into private tuition, why isnt that stigmatised in the same way? Its socially unacceptable to discriminate against people going to state schools, but on the other hand it seems almost totally acceptable to discriminate against those that went to private school, because everyone is apparently rich. Not all of us are - some get full bursaries and scholarships! Its not my fault what my parents choices were. I went to a comprehensive when I was younger, and it made me appreciate the value of a private education.
