Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell visited Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge just south of Albuquerque, N.M., on Friday, joining local elected officials and community partners to celebrate the positive economic impacts and successes of the Land and Water Conservation Fund as it approaches its 50th anniversary on September 3rd. She presented Reclamation Area Manager Mike Hamman a plaque recognizing Reclamations contribution of $2.9 million to help purchase the land that now forms the refuge.
