See you at church in November- 10:45 Sunday mornings: November 3: Every Day I Die a Little. Rev Joan Kahn-Schneider. Dia de los Muertos – the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember. It is a good time to recall those we have lost. It is also a good time to recognize that every day we do die a little, and to wonder what we need to do with the remainder of our days. November 10: Celebration Sunday, A Big Stupendous Sparkling Spectacular Pledge Party. A morning filled with fun, entertainment and love for our community. Please attend and show your support for NHF. A catered lunch will be served immediately following in the Quimby room. November 17: Pointing to the Moon. Rev. Emmy Lou Belcher. There is an old Buddhist saying that illumines the difference between the pointing finger and the moon when pointing to the moon. What does it mean to be one who points to the moon? November 24: The Righteous Among Nations. Rev. Joan Kahn-Schneider. Imagine living a near perfect life in a picture perfect New England town, and agreeing to leave all that behind to travel to war torn Europe. I doubt I would have done it. I don’t know many people who would. But Martha and Waitstill Sharp did it. It was 1939. Europe was in turmoil, when, with grave misgivings, the Sharps went to Czechoslovakia. Why? We will meet this remarkable couple, as we honor the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee,
