Seedlings of Bruguiera parviflora (Bokul kakra) and - TopicsExpress

Seedlings of Bruguiera parviflora (Bokul kakra) and B.gymnorrhiza(Kakra) were increasingly affected by an insect attack, over large areas of Saptamukhani-Thakuran zone (one of the plantation site for our mangrove afforestation and restoration project at Sunderban under Livelihoods ).However, the insects could be contained/destroyed by the use of a mixture of bio-insecticides viz. Neem(Azadirachta indica) seed powder and Metarhizium anisopliae powder, in right proportions. Both the ingredients were dissolved in water, processed and then sprayed well, on to the affected plants – from tip to base. Only a single application of this bio-insecticide mixture solution yielded magical results and there was hardly any need for a second application. Most of the Saptamukhani-Thakuran zone is now, apparently, free from the insect pest.
