And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacobs thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. Gen 32:24-25 Thought for today You can never have power with God until you have come to the end of strength. Over the last few days, God has been dealing with us on the subject of having an encounter with Him. What are the products of Divine encounter? 1. The death of self confidence and the birth of confidence in God. You can never have power with God until you have come to the end of your strength. God touched the hollow of Jacobs thigh (which was the most powerful part of his body) and weakened it. The Bible says that he went about with a limp and it was as if God was telling him, Now that you are weak, you have become strong. Since I have collected your strength, you can now collect my might. Many of us rely and boast about too many things. We are over confident about too many things, hence, God is saying, As long as that strength is there, I cant help you. Let me touch your strength and give you my might. God might disconnect you from a godfather or from something that can give you reasons to boast. He might even cut you off from a vainglorious source of income. When He cuts off these things, then you will be exposed to the inexhaustible resources, Power, and flow of God. When God touches you, the blessing is imparted and the curse is reversed. That was what happened to Jacob. When God touched him, he was changed from Jacob to Israel. 2. Power to prevail with God and with man. God told Jacob, Now, your name is Israel and as a prince, you have power to prevail with God and with man. A man who has encountered God can face anything and anyone. 3. The strength to face the future without fear. Gods touch will give you the enablement to connect with the strength to face the future without fear. May you experience that touch today, in Jesus Name. Remember this: you can never have power with God until you have come to the end of your strength. Assignment 1. Reject any form of self confidence. 2. Earnestly long for an encounter with God.
