Seeing Comet ISON There are two problems in seeing ISON in - TopicsExpress

Seeing Comet ISON There are two problems in seeing ISON in early to mid November. The first is seeing it at all. Its not that bright yet and good seeing may be hampered by the light of the sun and the moon. The second problem is knowing where to look. A decent opportunity may occur between the 16th and 19th of November. At that time, the comet will appear close to Spica, the brilliant blue-white Alpha star in the constellation of Virgo. The only other nearby object of comparable brightness will be the planet Saturn which is yellowish in color. Youll need a good view to the southeast about 1-2 hours before sunrise. Use binoculars or a telescope at low power. Good luck.
