Seeing a lot of Bernie Sanders quotes these days, pointing out quite correctly the inequality in our society. I am not saying anything new, so you dont have to read beyond this point. :) Everyone knows this. All for working on these inequalities. But .... Fixing difficult problems like this by simple fiat of some law spending money by lawmakers who grandstand for grand ideas for hopeful voters? Our leaders do little oversight or follow through to make sure the goal is reached. They spend all their time and resource against a stupid opponent. Self righteously they declare all challenge and criticism is an abomination against the goal of fairness. So We no longer elect managers. We elect talkers. We no longer elect those interested to focus, to have the tenacity and sincerity to do the follow-through, to do the requisite oversight. We give our dollar to the homeless and walk away. Can we overcome this ADDHD rampant in our leaders? Does the citizen have enough time beyond family and work to help? I like a lot of Bernie Sanders quotes. But the real art, the tough reality of making the goal happen is often elusive. Less Bernie Sanders and more Ralph Waldo Emerson. The real solution is long and torturous to change hearts and minds and for a citizenry who no longer has time for public service. America is treading water barely able to handle its own family and the hours spent on work. I dont know a simple answer to this. I dont think anyone disagrees with this and of course I am not saying anything new. Of course people need a hand up. Of course you can a lead a horse to water but cannot make it drink. Of course you cannot do nothing. It is the in-between area being two righteous right and left foes in our split country lies the reality. So more beauty, more poetry in the heart, and more trying.
