Seek immediate solution to our issues or face strict protests: EJAC to Govt. Srinagar, Sep 26: The Employees Joint Action Committee Kashmir (EJAC-K) Thursday staged massive protests against government for not meeting their demands after so many assurances by the latter. The protests were attended by thousands of employees across the State who were seen raising slogans in favor of demands. According to reports reaching GNS, EJAC while holding protest demonstrations against government for early and immediate solution to their demands said they were forced to launch protests as government has failed to keep its promises. “We recently met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who assured us that the issues would be resolved at earliest but unfortunately nothing concrete has been done so far,” EJAC-K President Ajaz Khan told GNS. “We have held many dharnas, hunger strikes and other peaceful means to seek a resolution of conceded demands of employees by government but government is not serious about our issues,” Khan added. Warning of resorting to other peaceful but stringent majors for the resolution of employees’ demands, EJAC President said government should immediately issue the formal orders of their demands. The employees have been demanding regularization of all daily wagers, contractual, adhocs, consolidated and need based employees working in different departments, removal of pay anomalies in different grades in different departments, reviewing of new recruitment policy, making the service pensionable besides abolishing consolidated wages policy in all the Non-gazetted posts, enhancement in retirement age of employees from 58 to 60, implementation of medi-claim scheme, reduction in interest rate in loans of J&K Bank for employees on the analogy of bank employees. They also pitch for implementation of 6th pay commission in PSU and urban local bodies, cash payment of balance arrears of 6th pay commission and in-time payment of salary under SSA for head teachers and teachers.
