Seems as if coaches are confusing lack of technique with competing. Goaltending is the most important position on a team and yet the most poorly understood by the Coaching staff. This isnt any new trend. What is being done at the town youth-high school levels to correct this? I believe in formalizing the criteria you need to meet in order to instruct goaltenders as well as making a stipulation regarding the presence of the certified goalie coach to provide a curriculum and instruction in your youth-high school program. Or we can just go with who ever competes hardest and let the other goalies dedicated to technique training slip through the cracks. It is getting ugly.
