Seems like the Opposition played their cards wrongly this wrongly. Several points to note: 1) Condition 1 - All events and activities carried out by any approved person at Speakers Corner, Hong Lim Park, are subject to the terms and conditions stated below and such other terms and conditions as the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation (the Commissioner) may from time to time impose. The Commissioner reserves the right to cancel any approval or disallow any event or activity at any time without prior notice in the event of any breach of or non-compliance with the terms and conditions herein or where in the Commissioners opinion the event or activity may endanger or cause discomfort or inconvenience to other park users and/or the general public. 2) HHHs repeated demands of formalistic requirements puts her in great disadvantage. The laws of Singapore and respective by-laws are very, well-drafted. 3) Her stance appears to be a lot more unreasonable in comparison with the NParks director who was trying his best to give her a separate space. In particular, her accusations against the NParks Director was uncalled for. 4) The YMCA event was meant for special needs children. Ousting the socially underprivileged group does not appear positive for the Opposition, especially when they are the ones championing for their rights in the first place. 5) There was a separate space given where both events (YMCA and HHHs protest) can go on harmoniously. 6) The police was at all times calm and composed. Her demand for their identification was a little overbearing. I recall one of the Investigation Officer stepping up and identifying himself. In fact, identification may not be necessary because the police was not making a formal arrest. 7) The Opposition, in fighting to be the better alternative than our incumbent PAP party as leaders, should remain calm and reasonable at all times. It is worrying if most Opposition ends up like that. It may affect the check-and-balance structure in the future. Worrying indeed.
