Selene is our 3rd Band of the Month Candidate for January 2015 Selene is a fresh new Symphonic Metal band from L/Derry in Northern Ireland. Bringing together a mix of soaring Operatic vocals, infectious hooks and hard hitting metal they bring forward a signature Symphonic Metal sound without losing the Metal Edge. Selene was founded in 2013 by John Connor and Shonagh Lyons. Having previously worked together in Gate XIII when Shonagh performed vocals on one track of their 2012 EP Once Upon a Time and acted as Lead vocalist in the following live shows, they decided to start a band playing Symphonic Metal that would fit well in a live environment. After Among the Frozen the line up was expanded in order to further the bands sound and allow for live playing. First Thomas Alford joined on bass which saw the release of Sweetest Dreams and their first music video and shortly after, Cameron Ahslund-Glass took over drums.
