Selling fake beef isn’t only a crime in China, it’s also a huge problem. Over 900 people were arrested for “meat-related offenses” within the first 3 months at the start of this year, 2013. One of these arrests was one gang of meat crooks who made over $1.6 million by selling rat, fox, and mink meat at the markets. See related video above. The latest meat scandal has to do with selling over 22 tons of fake beef. Police in Xi’an in Shangai province recently seized 22 tons of fake beef in a factory. The mystery meat was luckily made from pork that had been treated with industrial salts and paraffin wax to make it look like beef. The factory got away with selling more than 3,000 pounds of fake beef to the local markets around $4-$5 per kilogram. With that said, will you be eating processed chicken sent from China?
