Semi-Quick explanation on my beliefs... Do I believe God uses our faith to heal the sick, yes I do. Do I believe that He does miracles? yes I do, daily... Do I think thats what we should advertise in our church? No. Jesus was the healer, the one who started it all... and He had an interesting trait about Him... check out some of these verses that happened just after He healed someone... Matthew 8:4 - 4 Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.” Matthew 9:30 - Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” I wise pastor friend of mine told me, What you draw them with, you draw them to. The danger is that you attract people with the show, with the big miracles, then what happens when the miracles arent answered? What happens when God allows cancer to take your loved one? Your faith starts to be based on what you see... but faith isnt what we see, its the confident hope that God is good, and that his plan is good. My hope is not in this body, because even if I am healed, Ill still die someday... My hope is for another place, another time... 2 Corinthians 5:1 - For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Ecclesiastes 7:1 - A good name is better than a good ointment, And the day of ones death is better than the day of ones birth. There is nothing wrong with asking God for a miracle, but if your faith is built on whether or not He answers your request, your faith isnt that Gods will is good, its in what He can do for you... its selfish. Gods plan is good so Hell heal me vs. Gods plan is good even if He doesnt heal me Some dear friends of mine believe that we need to promote healings, to the point of marketing it, I disagree. This does not mean they or I love Jesus any less, this does not mean that I cannot support them, nor they I. We both believe that healings occur. The manner & circumstances in which they occur are what gets my spirit of discernment moving... When the glory of God gets written off as a magic trick, I get ticked... Mark 13:22,23 - 22 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. 23 Watch out! I have warned you about this ahead of time! I do not believe my friends are the deceivers as the bible talks about, but thats an area of confusion in modern tv evangelist times ... and something I dont think its worthwhile to dwell in... 1 Corinthians 13:8,9 - Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! 9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! I choose to believe in the love Jesus Christ has brought into my life, healing or no, miracle or no, speaking in tongues or no... the only miracle I needed to see was when the Holy Spirit came into my life and helped me begin to want Gods will for my life, to want Jesus. I truly hope that you are drawn with Jesus... because being drawn to Him is sustainable. When you begin to know Gods will for your life (as in Romans 12:2), you begin to desire what is good, pleasing and perfect. Love ya peeps :}
