Senator Long states that Ritz does not have the qualifications and the other members of the state board are all experts. hyllis Bush Here are my notes from the transcript: Caller: 12:18—Sen. Long, have you ever watched the Board meetings? 13:08-14:28— Senator Long: She (Ritz) was a librarian; she is a bright person; she has never run a school system, probably the first person who has not had that experience as an executive either as a principal or a superintendent…and that is a bit of a problem for her —she’s on a learning curve there—the members are all experts on varying shapes and sizes—principals, superintendents in the past, Ph.d’s in education—there’s some dysfunction—it takes two to tangle—obviously- I will say that Supt Ritz has sued the Board—and on meetings she has refused to put certain items on the agenda which is unprecedented—it’s important to understand that she has been a catalyst for a lot of the dysfunction as well, not the only person—but looking at it from the global perspective honestly need to get the board to function as well as it can regardless of who is at fault and we can’t have another 6 years of this. It’s bad for public education, for our kids, and for our parents, and it’s bad for Indiana. So that’s why we are looking at a change—without pointing fingers—something needs to happen. We have spent the last two years trying to make it work, and it’s not working. Yesterday at 6:12pm
