Senecas inaugural mock trial team competed in the 2014 Kentucky - TopicsExpress

Senecas inaugural mock trial team competed in the 2014 Kentucky High School Mock Trial Tournament held March 14-16 at Eastern Kentucky University and the Lexington-Fayette County Courthouses. Only one of 32 teams from across the state to participate in this prestigious event, Senecas team received very high praise from the attorneys and judges in attendance. Many remarked that they were amazed to find out that this was the first time these students had competed. The team won two out of their four trials, beating Louisville Collegiate and Paducah Tilghman. The team is coached by Seneca pre-law program attorneys and teachers Emily Fritts and Justin Cornell. We were so proud of the way these students competed, Cornell said. They put a lot of time and effort in preparing for this tournament and their hard work paid off. Fritts added, Weve learned so much from our first competition, and the students cant wait to implement these lessons and start preparing for next year. What is most exciting is witnessing the students gain legal advocacy skills and confidence communicating in public. The team was composed of five freshmen, seven sophomores, one junior, and one senior. Please join us on Thursday, April 24 at 6 pm in the Seneca Courtroom to witness the mock trial team in action.
