Senior Instrument Utility Technician WTPV03037 Multiple Positions Job description Senior Instrument Utility Technician Job Purpose & Scope: Directs and participates in the repair, overhaul and calibration of process control equipment on site or in workshop. Includes systems such as fire and gas detection equipment, turbine control systems, wellhead hydraulic safety system, and ordinary control system e.g. pressures, temperature, levels etc. Uses various types of tools and test equipment such as basic handtools, multimeter, pressure calibrators and specialized test control equipment. Work is carried out in pneumatic, electronic and hydraulic equipment. Refers to drawings as required. Principal Accountabilities: Performs any of all of the duties of the Instrument Technician and in addition carries out the following: Drafts work orders, obtains work permits form for his supervisor, reviews work and arranges for the necessary materials, tools and equipment to complete the task. Allocates work to assigned technician, ensures availability of materials and follows up to ensure satisfactory completion. Participates in the diagnosis of faults. Inspects and tests completed work to ensure that it has been carried out in accordance with requirements and that equipment performs satisfactorily, prior to handling back to operating section. Carries out trouble shooting activities in all aspects of instrumentation maintenance. Includes reading and interpreting drawings, reading current diagrams, and repairing circuit boards at component level. Provides on the job training and instruction to instrument technicians in all aspects of instrumentation repair work. Identifies materials and spare parts required. Includes assessing work required, carrying out material take-off for installation or construction work, and preparing lists of items required. Performs other similar or related duties such as preparing daily reports of work carried out and current status of on-going assignments, and ensuring that all tools and test equipment are kept in a clean and serviceable condition Requirements Senior Instrument Utility Technician Qualification & Experience: Completion of secondary (technical)education (12 years) followed by 2 years advanced vocational training in instrumentation systems. Min 8-10 years’ experience out of 3-5 years as a Senior Techncian in Offshore is must and in the maintenance, repair and calibration of a variety of electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, preferably in the oil industry. Good knowledge of English.
