Senior Statistician Zigron Inc - Islamabad Job description: The successful candidate will be primarily involved with designing and developing statistical measures to be used in fraud, waste and abuse (FWA) algorithms. The work will include measurement and calculation of measures of central tendency, probability distributions, regressions, and confidence levels. We anticipate a need to include some advanced statistical modeling including Bayes analysis, decision trees, and Markov models in the near future. This work will be used to establish the thresholds for determining an act(s) of FWA as well as the perpetrator of the FWA. This person will work closely with the clinical team (CMIO, clinical experts, and coding experts) and the data analyst / modelers to optimize detection capabilities. This person will also work with the software engineers to help with performance optimization of the data model and the execution and performance of the detection algorithm. This person will be expected to develop new probability based algorithms that will improve FWA detection. Job duties 1. Compute the statistical / probability measures of the FWA algorithms. 2. Work with software engineers to develop the computer code for automatic calculation of the statistical / probability measures 3. Explain the results to the clinical team 4. Develop new or modify existing models to improve detection 5. Analyze US healthcare data, mainly claims data 6. Willingness to accept additional responsibilities and duties as the company requires Skills needed: 1. Masters or doctorate in probability or the equivalent science / math degree with evidence of experience in statistics and probability (via publications) 2. Expertise with statistical software, like SAS, SPSS, Stata with a preference for open source solutions, like Stata. 3. Experience with hard coding SQL. 4. Experience with non-SQL search techniques 5. Knowledge of US healthcare claims. 6. Excellent US English communication skill, written and verbal. This person may have to interpret verbal request from clinicians who do not speak the language of software development or data analysis. 7. Information modeling and data modeling is desirable 8. US healthcare experience is desirable 9.
