Ohio Soybean Council The Ohio Soybean Council offers scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers related to the soybean industry and/or agriculture. Eligible majors include a variety of academic fields that support the future of the soybean industry including agriculture, business, communication, economics, education, science and technology. Eight undergraduate scholarships of $3,000 each are available for Ohio residents enrolled full-time in an Ohio college or university. Applicants should be sophomores by fall 2015 with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Two scholarships of $5,000 each are available to graduate students conducting research in bioproducts, biobased materials, biotechnology, bioengineering, biopolymers or a related field, and focused on advancing the soybean industry. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an Ohio college or university and have legal residency in the United States. Deadline for applications is January 16, 2015. Today, three $1,500 scholarships are awarded annually. Applicants must be a high school senior planning to attend a two or four-year Ohio college or university the following fall. National FFA has scholarships available for both FFA and non-FFA youth. In 2014, the National FFA Organization awarded $2.2 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. The selection process takes into account the whole student - FFA involvement, work experience, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics. More than 1,800 scholarships are available. Make sure you follow the right path for the application process FFA member verses non-FFA member (sign-in or create an account as a community member). Ohio 4-H Scholarships were established in 1976 in order to help young people become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. There are currently 36 statewide 4-H scholarships being offered. Application deadline is February 15, 2015 and the application is an online form. New professionals need to be trained; new leaders need to be developed. The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation scholarship programs invite more students from all walks of life to pursue opportunities in agriculture. Various scholarships are available through the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation. All are due February 28, 2015. Click here fore more information: ofbf.org/foundation/scholarships-and-grants/ American Agri-Women Scholarships Daughters of American Agriculture was created to honor the memory of those courageous and adventuresome pioneer women who played such an important role in the founding of this nation and encourage the present generation to continue their education in agricultural pursuits. Initial funding for the foundation was provided by Jean and Calvin Ibendahl, who farmed near Tamaroa, Illinois and from farm families around the country who pitched in dollars for daughters. The DAA Foundation provides $1,000 scholarships to farm, ranch and agribusiness women or their daughters in two categories: the Jean Ibendahl scholarship to high school graduates age 18-23 and the Sister Thomas More Bertels scholarship to women age 24 and over. Scholarship funds may be used for accredited courses in agricultural leadership, communications, rural sociology, medicine, or other courses directly related to agriculture.
