(Sent this as an email but I wanted to make sure it got to all of you!) Sorry it has taken me so long to follow up with you! Summer slips away so quickly! Of course I want to say first and foremost, thank you endlessly for all each of you did to make this summer happen, especially all that you did that went above and beyond what you signed up for! I know that you all had to step out in faith and give up your valuable time to be a part of a new program that you knew little about and I do not take your sacrifice lightly! I so appreciate your passion for the Drop kids and I can say that I have received so much wonderful feedback from students and parents alike about how well your workshops ran and how grateful they were to have them! A few things: - Im still working to make sure all the art from the Showcase gets to the proper artists. Let me know 1) if you have anything that belongs to the students 2) if The Drop has an items that belong to you. As I prepare for afterschool, I have come across few things that need returned. - If you have any receipts/expenses yet to report, please get those to Matt Harding at The Shepherds Door pronto so we can reimburse you for those. Unless you really insist, dont feel like you have to swallow any costs. Your time was more than enough for you to give. - I have a gift to give each of you as a small way of saying Thank You. If you can easily stop by The Shepherds Door to pick it up, please do. Otherwise, let me know how I can get it to you. - Not to add anything else to your plate, but if you could take some time to fill out the survey below it would be a big help towards seeing how we can better serve volunteers and students in the future. Some of you have given me great feedback already, but I know for others, its easier to write your thoughts down. Finally, for those of you wondering/asking about The Drops plans for the school year, we are officially opening our doors for our afterschool program this Tuesday, September 2nd! We will be open Tuesday-Thursday, 3-6pm and some Fridays TBA for tailgating/movies/food/game days. Our school year is run in more of a drop-in style, meaning kids can come in whatever time and day theyd like and they must only sign in and abide by our guidelines. This year were allowing the first half of the time to be hang time in the rec room space, per usual but were introducing different crafts/art projects each day in the big fellowship room during the second half to include optional, productive things to do. This will mean different artists/parents/community members coming in to share their skills. This might be a good chance for those of you who are not able to commit to teach a consistent class but would still would like to be a part of things. For those of you who have expressed an interest in teaching a workshop again, well be most likely start art workshops back up in the end of September/early November. There will only be one or two occurring each day and they will all be at The Center of Bellevue which should make it MUCH more convenient to have help and direct contact with me or Matt. The workshops will run from 4:30-6pm Tuesday/Wednesdays/Thursdays and will be up to the individual teachers and class whether they want to teach different projects each day or work towards a final project. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you further information Aside from regular teachers, we are also in need of volunteers to be present during the 3-4pm time slot if you would like to commit to a day or know of any parents/community members who might be interested in being a positive presence. Currently we are in need of a Tuesday volunteer in particular to hang out with kids from 3-6pm.
