Sent via David S. Haskett: The Smokin’ Flamingo BBQ & Music Festival IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I keep hearing a rumor that the FBA contest I am organizing in Jacksonville, The Smokin’ Flamingo BBQ & Music Festival scheduled for November 22nd - 23rd might not happen. I cannot locate the source of this rumor but I assure you it is a FALSE Rumor. We have NEVER been in jeopardy of not having this contest. We currently have 4 Teams competing from Destination America’s New TV Show, BBQ Kings. They will have a production team on site filming an episode for their show. We have Pig Papa’s Battle at BBQ Junction State Championship scheduled at this contest. Darryl Mast of BBQ Superstars will be broadcasting live and filming at this contest. We have three bands performing on Saturday. It will be a great contest. As of today we have a total of 23 teams competing. We only have room for a total of 48 teams. I have fielded more than a dozen calls in the last three days that say that now that they now there is no truth to the cancellation rumor that they are sending in their applications this week. I have submitted a list of the first 26 Judges selected and they are posted on the FBA website. I will be selecting more as more Team applications come in. If you are planning on competing for our $15,500.00 prize pool, and haven’t done so yet, then I would encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. We are looking at instituting a deadline for applications of November 8th. This will give me time to add the necessary additional Judges required.
