A DME official said, "This year, we have decided to conduct the counselling separately as that would held students decide which stream to choose" He said there are a total of 626 seats in five medical colleges of the state. However, 123 seats will be allotted under different quotas like central pool and allocation to other NE states. The state will get 503 seats for admission from the CEE. He said, in post-graduation there are 283 seats, out of which 50 per cent seats are reserved for students from the state. "As the test was conducted nationwide, it would be difficult for us to tell you the exact number of students who have qualified. We would know that only after counselling begins. General category students, who have secured 50 per cent marks, will qualify, while for reserved category students, it is 40 per cent," he added.
